A joy forever is a promise of a common happiness, provided also in the sphere of economy by widely applied creativity. Is it then a tool for the emancipation of humanity, an instrument of control or a space for investment and speculation?
After seven years of Andrzej Tobis’ linguistic-visual journey through Poland, the volume A-Z (Gabloty edukacyjne) – A-Z (Educational Showcases) is released by the Bęc Zmiana Foundation and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as a Polish-German-English publication. The book features 100 photographs.
The purpose of the exhibition is not as much to catalogue the existing communal spaces, as to provide for a dynamic confrontation of all the very different - radical, traditional, integrating humans and nonhumans, pragmatic, highly debatable and utopian - visions for the creation of spaces for coexistence and cooperation.
MONadOLOGy. A treatise on relationality is a live stage installation based on the most famous work from Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Monadology, written in 1714, seems to gain new actuality in the context of mutual interplay of human body and city.
Typopolo. An Album of Typographic Photography is a Polish-English publication on the amateur typography created in the 1990s in Poland. Unsophisticated signboards and simple advertisements became a visual reflection of the economic and political changes, a symbol of the Romantic breakthrough, when “everybody could be what they wanted and everything was possible”.
The conference of the Free/Slow University of Warsaw seeks to explore the field of contemporary art as social factory, which determines division of labour, attribution of statuses, and distribution of the various forms of capital.
The Bęc Zmiana Foundation has been active since 2002 as a not-for-profit organisation that supports artistic and cultural activities aimed at discovering the spaces and ways in which the spirit of the times makes itself manifest. The Foundation acts as an initiator of interdisciplinary events which engage creators in the field of art, architecture, design, music, and carries out the majority of its projects in the public space.
